Pilot Project / Islet Award Initiative (IAI)View Pilot Project AwardeesView IAI Awardees

IIDP Pilot Projects were offered from 2011 to 2017 and were awarded to investigators with highly meritorious novel human islet research projects.

The IIDP's Islet Award Initiative is intended to advance the careers of investigators new to human islet research by providing access to free human islets for high impact and novel research studies. The IIDP IAI provides human islets to investigators without the need for a paid subscription.

Technology Resource Award (TRA)View TRA Awardees

The IIDP’s Technology Resource Awards (TRAs) are intended to advance human islet research by providing support for high-impact studies that will enhance services provided by IIDP to the research community. Studies supported by these awards focus on exceptional ideas and projects that enhance the ability of the IIDP to provide new resources and services to the IIDP community of scientists.

Emphasis of studies are on the exploration of novel assays or unique technologies that contribute to and augment IIDP programmatic objectives to support studies of the human pancreas in states of disease and health.

Data Resource Trainee Scholar Award (DRTSA)View DRTSA Awardees

The IIDP utilizes the Data Resource Trainee Scholar Awards (DRTSA) to advance research in human pancreas biology by providing trainees with support and access to detailed donor and islet data contained within the IIDP’s Research Data Repository (RDR) that will enable important secondary analyses to explore the relationships among donor characteristics, islet phenotyping, and genetic risk.

Studies supported by the DRTSAs focus on key questions in pancreatic research. IIDP data, including detailed donor, islet isolation, and post-shipment phenotyping data, are made available to award recipients via the IIDP’s Research Data Repository (RDR). A comprehensive list of data points available via the IIDP’s RDR can be viewed here.

Note: Only postdoctoral fellows and graduate / medical students are eligible to apply for this initiative.

Data Resource Award (DRA)

The IIDP’s Data Resource Award (DRA) is intended to advance research in human pancreas biology by providing new principal investigators with support and access to detailed donor and islet data contained within the IIDP’s Research Data Repository (RDR) that will enable important secondary analyses to explore the relationships among donor characteristics, islet phenotyping, and genetic risk.

Studies supported by these awards should focus on key questions in pancreatic research. IIDP data, including detailed donor, islet isolation, and post-shipment phenotyping data, will be made available to award recipients via the IIDP’s Research Data Repository (RDR). A comprehensive list of data points available via the IIDP’s RDR can be viewed here.

Upon conclusion of the project, all awardees are asked to provide feedback on the design and functionality of the RDR to assist the IIDP in improving the RDR’s future functionality and utility.

Note: Only new principal investigators are eligible to apply for this initiative.
