The COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) pandemic and its impact on global health.

Author: IIDP Admin

As you are aware, much uncertainty and concern surrounds the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) pandemic and its impact on global health.  The Integrated Islet Distribution Program (IIDP), in its role as a provider of human islets and tissue to investigators worldwide, is taking this threat very seriously.

Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, the IIDP is continuing its temporary suspension of islet and tissue distributions until further notice.

We will continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC, our Centers, and their OPO partners regarding any changing criteria for organ acceptance. When IIDP islet distributions resume, as always all personnel handling these islets are reminded to follow the Universal Precautions in Handling Human Tissue.
